Parish Announcements – week of November 26th, 2023 (The Last Sunday after Pentecost: Christ the King, Proper 29)

Welcome to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church—we’re very glad you’re here!

UPCOMING MARK YOUR CALENDARS:

This coming Saturday, 12/2/23 at 2 p.m. our parishioners Brenden Kite and Shaylen Delagrange will be married here at St. Alban’s—we offer them congratulations and prayers of love and support as they begin their married life together!

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT OF A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE: well, maybe not significant exactly but an important one nonetheless! Beginning on Sunday, December 3rd (the First Sunday of Advent and the beginning of the Church New Year—Year B) our Sunday Eucharist time will move from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

PLEASE NOTE: Envelopes for special donations for Christmas flowers/decorations/poinsettias are in the pews today and will remain in place until the 10th of December. The “greening (decorating) of the church” will take place just after the 10 a.m. Eucharist on Sunday, December 17th.

The next Men’s Night Out will take place this coming Wednesday, 11/29/23 at 6:30 p.m. at Casa Grande (1025 Woodland Plaza Run, 46825, off Dupont Road). Please see the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the narthex.

It’s getting colder as winter approaches in earnest! Please consider donating any winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves (new OR used) you may have to our “Between the Holidays Coat Drive” beginning next Sunday (11/19) through the Second Sunday of Advent (12/10). There will be designated boxes for such donations in the narthex beginning next Sunday. Men’s items will be given to the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission and women’s items will go to the Women’s Shelter. Thank you for considering this type of contribution at this time of year.

Our annual St. Nicholas Day Party will take place on Sunday, December 3rd at 1:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. The focus of this event is the trimming of the Jesse Tree, a prophecy of Jesus Christ from the Book of Isaiah, “And there shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots.” Jesse was the father of David, Israel’s greatest king. And Jesus is descended from the line of David. He is the branch God promised would grow from Jesse’s family tree.

Please consider signing up to provide white icing and candies (preferably shapes, we have plenty of plain sprinkles) for the kids to decorate cookies. We also need chocolate coin candies. Any of these items can be dropped off and placed in the kitchen by Sunday Nov. 26th. Please contact Cindy Spice or Megan Spice if you have any questions….and thank you for your consideration and support for this event!

If you are able, please review the sign-up sheets in the Parish Hall for future openings for Coffee Hour sponsors and hosts and consider signing up for a Sunday; this makes our post-service fellowship very festive and delicious and we appreciate any and all help in this area!

Wednesdays at 10 a.m. in the Parish Hall – come join us on Wednesdays as we tackle the Book of Isaiah. Our Bible Study is always followed by a celebration of the Eucharist. ALL ARE WELCOME!!

The evening Bible Study and Eucharist that takes place on Thursdays in the Parish Hall at 6:30 p.m. is currently engaged in discovering what to read/study next—with a decision to be announced soon! All are welcome!

FYI: Fr. Michael’s regular office hours are Tuesday – Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and any other time by appointment. Monday is his regular day off.

Peace and Blessings!
