Parish Announcements – week of November 3rd, 2023 (The First Sunday of Advent)

Welcome to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church—we’re very glad you’re here!

UPCOMING MARK YOUR CALENDARS:

Yesterday, 12/2/23 at 2 p.m. our parishioners Brenden Kite and Shaylen Delagrange were married here at St. Alban’s—we offer them congratulations and prayers of love and support as they begin their married life together!

PLEASE NOTE: Envelopes for special donations for Christmas flowers/decorations/poinsettias are in the pews today and will remain in place until NEXT Sunday, the 10th of December.  The “greening (decorating) of the church” will take place just after the 10 a.m. Eucharist on Sunday, December 17th.  Any help needed will be appreciated.

The next meeting of the Lunch Bunch will take place on Tuesday, 12/12/23 at 12:30 p.m. at “The Lunch Box Café” (8814 Coldwater Rd., Fort Wayne). Please see the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the narthex.

It’s getting colder as winter approaches in earnest! Please consider donating any winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves (new OR used) you may have to our “Between the Holidays Coat Drive” through NEXT Sunday, the Second Sunday of Advent (12/10).  There is a designated box for such donations in the narthex.  Men’s items will be given to the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission and women’s items will go to the Women’s Shelter.  Thank you for considering this type of contribution at this time of year.

Our annual St. Nicholas Day Party will take place today, Sunday, December 3rd at 1:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall.  The focus of this event is the trimming of the Jesse Tree, a prophecy of Jesus Christ from the Book of Isaiah, “And there shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots.”  Jesse was the father of David, Israel’s greatest king. And Jesus is descended from the line of David.  He is the branch God promised would grow from Jesse’s family tree.  Thank you to all who made this event possible, especially Cindy Spice and Megan Spice-Frede!

If you are able, please review the sign-up sheets in the Parish Hall for future openings for Coffee Hour sponsors and hosts and consider signing up for a Sunday; this makes our post-service fellowship very festive and delicious and we appreciate any and all help in this area!

Wednesdays at 10 a.m. in the Parish Hall – come join us on Wednesdays as we tackle the Book of Isaiah.  Our Bible Study is always followed by a celebration of the Eucharist.  ALL ARE WELCOME!!

The evening Bible Study and Eucharist that takes place on Thursdays in the Parish Hall at 6:30 p.m. is currently engaged in discovering what to read/study next—with a decision to be announced soon!  All are welcome!

FYI: Fr. Michael’s regular office hours are Tuesday – Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and any other time by appointment.  Monday is his regular day off.  Also the office will be closed on Monday, December 4th.

Peace and Blessings!
