Parish Announcements – week of September 1st, 2024 (the 15 th Sunday after Pentecost, Proper 17)

Welcome to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, we’re very glad you’re here! 

Please note: Our parish newsletter, “The Cross And Sword,” will re-start in September, but on a quarterly basis going forward. The publication months/dates for the newsletter will be March, June, September, and December of each year. This change reflects the changing patterns of how people receive information; if this change doesn’t work, we’ll try something else!

Calling all people interested in becoming a Crucifer or a Lay Eucharistic Minister (LEM) at the altar on Sunday mornings! We will be providing instruction/training for anyone who would like to explore this way of serving; please see Elaine Fazzaro or Fr. Michael. The date for instruction is to be determined.

UPCOMING/MARK YOUR CALENDARS:

On Sunday, September 8 th at 3 p.m. Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Wayne (611 W. Berry St.) will host ashowing of the new film “The Philadelphia Eleven.” Please join us as we learn more about thesecourageous women and their struggle for ordination. A panel discussion will follow – panelists: Mothers

Mindy Hancock, Kristen Guidero and Amanda Henes.

The next meeting of the Lunch Bunch will be at Ziffle’s Ribs Bar, 6340 E. State Blvd., Fort Wayne on Tuesday, 9/10 at 12:30 pm. Everyone is welcome. Please sign up if you would like to go! Any questions:contact Rose Marie Tinder-O’Brien.

On Tuesday, 9/10 it will be Team 1’s (Molly Haas, Fr. Michael, Loren Woody & George Shamp) turn to serve at the Rescue Mission (404 E. Washington Blvd.) from 4:15 – 5:30 p.m. Thank you for your support and service to this ministry.

The next meeting of the Daughters of the King will take place on Thursday, 9/12 at 1 p.m.

If you are able, please review (NEW!!) the sign-up sheets in the Parish Hall for future openings for Coffee Hour sponsors and hosts and consider signing up for a Sunday; this makes our post-service fellowship very festive and delicious and we appreciate any and all help in this area!

Wednesdays at 10 a.m. in the Parish Hall – come join us on Wednesdays as we read the Gospel of John. Our Bible Study is always followed by a celebration of the Eucharist. ALL ARE WELCOME!!

The evening Bible Study and Eucharist that take place on Thursdays in the Parish Hall at 6:30 p.m. is currently engaged in reading St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans. All are welcome!

FYI: Fr. Michael’s regular office hours are Tuesday – Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and any other time byappointment. Monday is his regular day off.
