Sunday 12.21.25

Father Michael is still not feeling well, so we will be having Morning Prayer on Sunday 12.21.25.

At this time, we are unsure about Christmas Eve and Christmas morning services. Please watch for updates in the days ahead.

Please also remember that tomorrow is the day we will be hanging the greens in preparation for Christmas. If you are able, we would really appreciate many hands to help get everything done quickly and joyfully.

Blessings

Church Service Cancelled.

Dear All,

Having driven in this weather twice in the last two hours, I’ve decided to cancel church for tomorrow–it’s a mess out there! It really doesn’t seem safe or smart to hold a service in this weather.

If you see this message and think that others you know may not check their email as frequently, please call them and let them know this news–thank you!

Peace,

Fr. MJR+

Good morning everyone,

I wanted to let you know that unfortunately, Father Michael is sick this morning and unable to attend the service. We will be having Morning Prayer, led by John Lorenzen. We won’t have a bulletin to follow so we will be using the Book of Common Prayer. Please be patient during the service today, we may fumble a few times but together we can do this and support John.

I also wanted to let you know that Kenny White has been working tirelessly on our parking lot and sidewalks with the weather that came in yesterday. The person who normally takes care of our parking lot is out of the country. With that in mind, it may be slick in parts, so be careful if you decide to join us in person.

As always, your safety is more important than you being in the building with us, so if you are uncomfortable driving this morning, stay home and join us online. Have a wonderful Sunday,

Cindy Spice

Parish Announcements – week of December 8th, 2024 (the Second Sunday of Advent)

Welcome to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, we are very glad you’re here!

UPCOMING/MARK YOUR CALENDARS:

TODAY, December 8th at noon we will have our annual St. Nicholas Day celebration in the Parish Hall; it will be a party to usher in the beginning of our Christmas celebrations and I’ve heard there is to be a VERY special guest!! We will also be decorating the Jesse Tree as part of the fun!

PLEASE NOTE: Envelopes for special donations for Christmas flowers/decorations/poinsettias are in the pews today and will remain in place until NEXT Sunday, the 15th of December.  The “greening (decorating) of the church” will take place just after the 10 a.m. Eucharist on Sunday, December 22nd.  Any help needed will be appreciated.

Youth Christmas Play!
Please mark your calendars for our Youth Group Dinner Theater on Sunday, December 22 at 6:00 p.m. The play is called “A Christmas Down Under”. The scene is the army headquarters of General Satan. He and his demon officers are trying their best to stop the first Christmas from taking place. There will be many funny-with-a-point clashes of good vs. evil. Join us for a pasta dinner and of course some wonderful desserts. Tickets go on sale on Sunday, December 1st, and will be sold every Sunday after the service up to and including the day of the show. Prices are $12.00 for adults, and $8.00 for ages 4-10, with 3 and under free. Although this is a Youth Fundraiser, don’t let the cost keep you from the show. If you have any questions or want to help, contact Cindy Spice (260-348-7061).

As most of you know, Jordan Trendelman will become a Deacon on December 21st. Besides all the expenses he has had to endure throughout Seminary, he will have even more to purchase the required vestments and clothing that he will need to dress as a Deacon and then a Priest once he graduates in the Spring. In the past, when Saint Alban’s sponsored someone going through the process, we took up a collection to purchase an item or items for the newly ordained. Jordan did so much for us when we didn’t have a Priest, by giving homilies every Sunday online and in-person, assisting Debbie with bulletins, and leading the congregation as our Junior Warden during Covid, to name a few. In talking to Jordan, he indicated that he would be grateful if we purchased his Cassock. The Cassock is a costly piece, he will wear under his vestments every week. Since Jordan is so tall, this item had to be custom-made to fit him properly. We are requesting your support in raising funds to pay for his Cassock. We invite you to contribute any amount you feel led to give. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to covering the cost entirely. Donations can be made by indicating on your envelope or by writing Jordan’s Cassock in the memo line of your check. Thank you for your generosity and continued support of Jordan and Christina.

If you are able, please review the sign-up sheets in the Parish Hall for future openings for Coffee Hour sponsors and hosts and consider signing up for a Sunday; this makes our post-service fellowship very festive and delicious, and we appreciate any and all help in this area!
