Stewardship Campaign – while our traditional, annual in-gathering of pledge cards took place a couple of weeks ago—and we are thankful beyond words for your prayerful generosity towards St. Alban’s Episcopal Church—we are still happy and grateful to receive any additional incoming pledges. Sunday Service 7/21/2024

Dear People of St. Alban’s,

Due to several contributing factors, I have made the unusual (but not unprecedented) decision to hold Julie Zeider’s funeral at our regular service time of 10 a.m. this coming Sunday, 7/21/24.

This service will also be streaming for those who cannot attend.

The suddenness of Julie’s death, coordinating the ability of her dispersed family members to be present for her service and the fact that I have a longstanding commitment to be in Racine, WI by Sunday evening and for the rest of the week all went into making this choice. I apologize if this is inconvenient or problematic for anyone; we’ll be back to our regular schedule next week.

FYI: there will be a wonderful reception in the Parish Hall directly after the service on Sunday, where we can greet one another and Julie’s wonderful family.

My thanks in advance to EVERYBODY who has kicked into high gear to make this happen on such short notice.

We hope to see you soon.

Peace,

Fr. MJR+

Special Announcement

Dear All,

“Special Announcement”–as in an unusual one!

Due to a number of extenuating (and unusual) circumstances, we will not be streaming this week’s service of Morning Prayer from the church as usual.

Things will return to their regular schedule by the weekend of 7/7/24.

I hope and pray that everyone has a safe and happy July 4th celebration!

Peace,

Fr. MJR+

Parish Announcements – week of May 19th, 2024 (The Day of Pentecost – Whitsunday)

Welcome to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church—and HAPPY (FINAL DAY OF) EASTER!—also known as the Day of Pentecost (or “the Birthday of the Church”), we’re very glad you’re here!

Today is also our Annual Youth Sunday Celebration! On Youth Sunday, the youth in our congregation take over most of the service. They will be doing readings, ushering and one of our high school seniors, Anna Layden, will be offering the Homily.

We also take this opportunity to raise money to help our kids participate in either Youth Camp or Senior High Mission. The cost of Youth Camp is $500 per camper and Senior High Mission is under $400 per youth. There are envelopes in the pews today for anyone that would like to donate towards our youth. Last year we were able to give $250 per youth to go to camp. We will also have a cake during coffee hour to honor our three seniors, Anna Layden, John Win and Jack Cullum. Please contact Cindy Spice if you have any further questions about how to donate to our youth.

QUILT FOR CAMP

We are selling raffle tickets for a Quilt to help support our Diocesan Youth Summer Camp. The quilt was made by Katie Chynoweth, from St. Paul’s in Munster; Katie is Charlie and Grayson Frede’s Godmother and a long-time camp staffer.

The quilt patches were chosen to help reflect this year’s camp theme, Yum! Come Taste & See. The tickets are 1 for $5 or 5 for $20. It is important to know that this money is going to help all youth in our Diocese and not just our youth here at St. Alban’s. If you wish to make a donation for St. Alban’s youth alone, please see the above announcement and the special envelopes in your pew.

The winning ticket will be selected at our closing ceremony for Youth Camp on Saturday June 15th. You do not need to present to win; we will make sure it gets to you if you win. You can purchase tickets through Sunday, June 2nd from Robbie Frede, Megan Spice or Cindy Spice.

UPCOMING/MARK YOUR CALENDARS:

St. Alban’s Church will celebrate our “Feast of Title” (aka St. Alban’s Day) on Sunday, June 16th at 10 a.m. with a Eucharist followed by a potluck lunch at the home of Donald and Vicki Irvine. More details will follow SOON but for now save the date; it’s a fun Sunday and it will have been two years since our last “off-site” celebration. Thanks to the Irvines for their hospitality!

The next Men’s Night Out will be on Wednesday, 5/22/24 at 6:30 p.m. at Henry’s Restaurant (536 W. Main St., downtown Fort Wayne). Please see the sign-up sheet on the big narthex bulletin board. For more information please contact Gary Michael at 260-637-2841.
