Our annual Stewardship Campaign officially concludes today with our in-gathering of pledge cards and the liturgical blessing of the same during our Eucharist. There are additional hard copies of the three stewardship letters written by Gary Pink, John Lorenzen and Fr. Michael as well as extra copies of pledge cards available in the Narthex today. THANK YOU for your consideration and participation in this stewardship process—we all benefit when our church family pulls together!

UPCOMING MARK YOUR CALENDARS:

The Service of Christian Burial for our dearly departed brother and parishioner Glen Grate will take place this coming Saturday, October 14th at 1 p.m. here at St. Alban’s, with a one-hour visitation with the Grate family being offered here from noon until the service begins at one. There will also be a reception directly after the service. Please continue to pray for Carolyn, Austin and all their family and friends during this difficult time.

The Lunch Bunch will meet this coming Tuesday, 10/10/23, at 12:30 p.m. at The Green Frog Inn (820 Spring St., Fort Wayne, 46808). Please see the sign-up sheet on the big bulletin board in the narthex.

Fr. Michael will be away attending the Fall Clergy Retreat from Monday, 10/9 – Wednesday, 10/11 this week; therefore this week’s Wednesday morning Bible Study and Eucharist will be cancelled.

This Tuesday, 10/10, it is Team II’s (Kenny White, Gary Michael, Matt Michael & Gary Pink)turn to serve dinner at the Rescue Mission of Fort Wayne. Please plan to be at 404 E. Washington Blvd. by 4:15 pm and thank you for your service to this ministry.

Just as an FYI, our parking lot will be used by our neighbors across the street (Our Lady of Good Hope) today, 10/8/23, from 1 pm – 10 pm for a special event that is taking place there. If you are able, please review the sign-up sheets in the Parish Hall for future openings for Coffee Hour sponsors and hosts and consider signing up for a Sunday; this makes our post-service fellowship very festive and delicious and we appreciate any and all help in this area!

Wednesdays at 10 a.m. in the Parish Hall – come join us on Wednesdays as we tackle the Book of Isaiah. Our Bible Study is always followed by a celebration of the Eucharist. ALL ARE WELCOME!!

The evening Bible Study and Eucharist that takes place on Thursdays in the Parish Hall at 6:30 p.m. is currently engaged in reading the Letter to the Hebrews.

Michael are doing an old-fashioned “Pulpit Swap” between St. Alban’s and All Saints Episcopal Church in Syracuse at Lake Wawasee, where Fr. Michael is serving as chaplain to the fall diocesan youth retreat. Thank you for your support in allowing this rare event to take place and thank you to Fr. Michael F.!

Our annual Stewardship Campaign continues here at St. Alban’s. By now you should have received an electronic version of a Stewardship Letter and pledge card from Gary Pink—our Vestry member and Stewardship Chair. This past Wednesday(9/27/23) an additional letter by our Senior Warden, John Lorenzen, was sent to the parish email list, with a final letter from Fr. Michael soon to follow. There will always be additional hard copies of these documents available in the Narthex during this stewardship campaign period. Our official In-Gathering of pledges will take place on Sunday, October 8th. THANK YOU for your consideration and participation in this stewardship process!

Of your loving compassion, please pray for the soul of Glenn Grate who died this past Monday, September 18^th; and continue to pray for Carolyn, Austin and Whitney Grate and for all those family members and friends who mourn Glenn’s death. We are still finalizing memorial/funeral plans at this time but we will inform you as soon as we are able.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, 

This is the final tally for our Food Drive:

Goal-Enough vegetables for 7 days of meals (this equates to 

1750 servings total, at 250 servings per day, or 70 cans)

 Actual-Enough vegetables for 12 days of meals (this equates to 2952 servings total, at 250 servings per day, or 123 cans)

This is a 68% increase from our goal.

You were very generous and the Vestry, Fr. Michael, and I are very grateful, but not as grateful as the people that get a hot meal at the Rescue Mission.  What a joy for all of us to be able to help others that need a helping hand!

Please continue to raise the Rescue Mission and Charis House up in prayer.

Parish Announcements – week of September 10th, 2023 (The 15^th Sunday after Pentecost, Proper 18)

Welcome to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church—we’re very glad you’re here!

Our annual “Food Drive” to feed the hungry in Ft. Wayne continues today, Sunday the 10th of September, and may extend to next week, the 17th of September, if our goal is not yet reached.

Our goal this year is the same as last year, to gather enough gallon size cans of vegetables to feed 250 people a day for 1 week.  This equates to 1,750 servings, or 73 gallon size cans of vegetables. 

Last year we brought in enough cans for 1,950 servings, so I know our goal is not too high, and I know that our Parish family has a tremendous heart for the hungry.

The Rescue Mission and Charis House will be the recipients of all the vegetables that we gather in and they will be the groups that “feed the hungry” in our community, with our vegetables, for 1 week.  They are experts at what they do, and we are pleased to support them.

You can buy the vegetables yourself, or we will purchase them for you from Sam’s Club, for $5/can, and they will deliver them to St. Albans; please make checks out to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church (with “for Food Drive” in the memo line).  Representatives from St. Albans will deliver them to the Rescue Mission.

Today July 10, 2022, we celebrate the Holy Baptism of Grayson Robert Frede!

Mark your calendars: the St. Alban’s annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper makes its return after nearly two years on Tuesday, March 1^st, 2022 from 5 – 7 pm!  

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, 3/2/22.

-For Ash Wednesday this year St. Alban’s will be offering two services; one at Noon which will be a spoken service and one at 7 p.m. which will include music. Both services will include the proper liturgy for Ash Wednesday followed by the Eucharist and both will take place in the sanctuary.

-The 10 a.m. Bible Study on Ash Wednesday will be moved up to 10:30 a.m. so that those attending may conveniently attend the noon service directly after the class. 

Stations Of The Cross begins Friday March 4th, 2022 at 6pm.
