TODAY IS PALM SUNDAY, the beginning of Holy Week, when we remember the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. During Holy Week services are held every evening. Worship with us at the simple Eucharist services on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
OUR MAUNDY THURSDAY SERVICE, at 7:00 p.m., commemorates the institution of the Sacrament of Holy Communion by our Lord. The service will include stripping of the altar. Bread and wine consecrated at this service remains on the Altar of Repose during the night.
AN ALL NIGHT WATCH follows the 7:00 p.m. Maundy Thursday service and continues until the Good Friday Liturgy at 9:00 a.m. We are invited to keep watch on this night even as Jesus asked His disciples to keep watch with Him in the Garden of Gethsemane as He prayed about His impending crucifixion. Please sign the poster in the narthex.
OUR GOOD FRIDAY LITURGY, at 9:00 a.m., includes communion from the Reserved Sacrament and a reading of the Passion According to St. John.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS are offered at noon and 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The evening service is especially geared to young members. Walk with Jesus down the road to Calvary on The Way of the Cross, a powerful devotional liturgy that follows Jesus through His passion and death. At each station a meditation, versicle and response, and prayer is read.
OUR EASTER VIGIL, at 8:00 p.m. this Saturday, ushers in the resurrection celebration, focusing on the saving power of Christ’s death and rising. The Easter Vigil, consists of the lighting of the new fire, readings from our biblical history, the Renewal of Baptismal Vows, and Holy Communion. Beginning in total darkness and ending in light, it connects God’s power in Baptism with remembrance of His saving acts and promises in the Old Testament to the celebration of the Resurrection.
NEXT SUNDAY at our 8:00 and 10:15 a.m. services we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, which assures the forgiveness of sins and life eternal to all who believe in Him as their Savior.
YOUTH CHOIR will meet following the 10:15 service today and on the Sundays of April 12 and 19.
THE LUNCH BUNCH meets on Tuesday, April 14, at Tiffany’s Restaurant, 414 E Lake Street, Topeka, Indiana, at 12:30. Car pool leaves the church at 11:30. Please sign the poster in the narthex. If you need a ride or need to cancel your reservation, contact Anita at 449-9682.
