It is our mission task to help gather the multitudes from all nations to come to where Christ and the Holy Spirit are present. We invite others to join us at church where we are devoted to the apostles teaching, to the fellowship, that is, the breaking of bread, and to the prayers of the Church.

Weekly Announcements, April 13

TODAY IS PALM SUNDAY, when we remember the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. Red vestments remind us of the precious blood which was shed for us.

WORSHIP WITH US DURING HOLY WEEK. Holy Eucharist will be held at 7:00 p.m. this Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. You are highly encouraged to attend all the services from Maundy Thursday through Easter. So many simply go from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday and miss the in between.

ON MAUNDY THURSDAY we gather at 7:00 p.m. to commemorate the institution of the Sacrament of Holy Communion by our Lord. The service will include stripping of the altar. Bread and wine consecrated at this service remains on the Altar of Repose during the night.

AN ALL NIGHT WATCH follows the Maundy Thursday service and concludes with the Good Friday Liturgy at 9:00 a.m. We are invited to keep watch on this night even as Jesus asked His disciples to keep watch with Him in the Garden of Gethsemane as He prayed about His impending crucifixion. Please sign the poster in the narthex. More than one person may sign for each segment.

ON GOOD FRIDAY the 9:00 a.m. Liturgy includes communion from the Reserved Sacrament and a reading of the Passion According to St. John. Stations of the Cross are offered at noon and 6:00 p.m. The evening service is especially geared to young members.

SATURDAY at 8:30 p.m. we usher in the resurrection celebration, focusing on the saving power of Christ’s death and rising. The Great Vigil of Easter consists of the lighting of the new fire, readings from our biblical history, the Renewal of Baptismal Vows, and Holy Communion. Beginning in total darkness and ending in light, it connects God’s power in Baptism with remembrance of his saving acts and promises in the Old Testament to the celebration of the Resurrection.

NEXT SUNDAY we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, which assures the forgiveness of sins and life eternal to all who believe in Him as Savior.
DAUGHTERS OF THE KING meet at 10:00 a.m. this Tuesday.

FOOD BANK current needs: crackers, tomato paste, chicken broth, beef broth, rice, bar soap, dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent. Please note: we currently have an abundance of macaroni and cheese, tuna, chicken noodle soup, and canned vegetables. Praise and thanks to Kelli MacDonald and the church school children for sponsoring last week’s food drive, and thank you all who were who supplied such a generous amount of food. The pantry looks so much better when it is full.

ATTENDANCE last Sunday was 81.
