ASCENSION DAY is this Thursday. Forty days after Easter our Lord Jesus Christ ascended to heaven, an event which took place before the eyes of His disciples, in order that the truth of His ascension might be historically established for the disciples and the entire Christian church. Join us at 7:00 p.m. that evening for this major feast of the Christian Church as we worship our powerful resurrected and ascended Lord.

OUTREACH COMMISSION meets at 11:30 a.m. this Friday.

SPRING CLEANUP is this Saturday, May 16. We need some eager helpers to make our church look beautiful on the outside, not just the inside. We need anyone who can help spread mulch, weed, seed, plant flowers, trim bushes, and have fun. This is a great opportunity to have fellowship while glorifying God by planting and caring for His beautiful gifts in nature. Please come anytime between 8 a.m. and noon to be a part of this wonderful day. The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board. Any gardening tools (shovels, rakes, wheel barrels, gloves, etc.) you can bring would be greatly appreciated. Questions can be answered by calling Chris Renner at 260-557-7804.

BISHOP LITTLE will be with us on Wednesday, May 20, to lead a workshop/presentation on how to attract and welcome new members into the church. This is a very important endeavor, for as Christians we are always called to reach out and share the love of God. So please sign the poster in the narthex and join us on May 20 at 6:00 p.m. for a potluck supper, followed by the presentation.

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME! On Friday, June 12, members of St. Alban’s will gather together at 7:05 to cheer on our TinCaps. Tickets are $10 each. Envelopes and signup sheet are on the bulletin board in the narthex. Payment must be received by May 22. Make checks payable to St. Alban’s.

DIOCESAN CAMP We have chosen next Sunday to raise money so that the younger children, as well as the teens, can attend camp. Cost is $405 per camper in grades 3-9 and $350 per teen in grades 9-12. Camp is a very important part in helping our kids on their spiritual journey. Special envelopes are available in the pew card holders. Any amount would be greatly appreciated; we don’t want cost to be the reason that a child doesn’t go to camp. TODAY IS PALM SUNDAY, the beginning of Holy Week, when we remember the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. During Holy Week services are held every evening. Worship with us at the simple Eucharist services on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

OUR MAUNDY THURSDAY SERVICE, at 7:00 p.m., commemorates the institution of the Sacrament of Holy Communion by our Lord. The service will include stripping of the altar. Bread and wine consecrated at this service remains on the Altar of Repose during the night.

AN ALL NIGHT WATCH follows the 7:00 p.m. Maundy Thursday service and continues until the Good Friday Liturgy at 9:00 a.m. We are invited to keep watch on this night even as Jesus asked His disciples to keep watch with Him in the Garden of Gethsemane as He prayed about His impending crucifixion. Please sign the poster in the narthex.

OUR GOOD FRIDAY LITURGY, at 9:00 a.m., includes communion from the Reserved Sacrament and a reading of the Passion According to St. John.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS are offered at noon and 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The evening service is especially geared to young members. Walk with Jesus down the road to Calvary on The Way of the Cross, a powerful devotional liturgy that follows Jesus through His passion and death. At each station a meditation, versicle and response, and prayer is read.

OUR EASTER VIGIL, at 8:00 p.m. this Saturday, ushers in the resurrection celebration, focusing on the saving power of Christ’s death and rising. The Easter Vigil, consists of the lighting of the new fire, readings from our biblical history, the Renewal of Baptismal Vows, and Holy Communion. Beginning in total darkness and ending in light, it connects God’s power in Baptism with remembrance of His saving acts and promises in the Old Testament to the celebration of the Resurrection.

NEXT SUNDAY at our 8:00 and 10:15 a.m. services we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, which assures the forgiveness of sins and life eternal to all who believe in Him as their Savior.

Good language skills are also required.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS are held at 6:00 p.m. each Friday during Lent. Walk with Jesus down the road to Calvary on The Way of the Cross, a powerful devotional liturgy that follows Jesus through His passion and death. At each station a meditation, versicle and response, and prayer is read.

A CHRISM EUCHARIST will be held at the Cathedral of St. James in South Bend at 10:00 a.m. this Saturday. Please sign the poster in the narthex if you plan to attend.

NEXT WEEK IS PALM SUNDAY, when we remember the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. At the 10:15 service we assemble at the outdoor crucifix and process into the church carrying palm branches, while singing the traditional hymn All Glory Laud and Honor.
